Telchac Puerto, Yucatan, Mexico.

Small port village 20 miles east of Progreso.  Perfect stop over for safe-haven from weather or for rest.

Telchac Puerto has a small manmade harbor which is about 3 miles to the west of the main plaza of the town.  Telchac is also only 20 nautical miles east of Porogreso which makes it a very good stop for any one going from the east coast of the peninsula to Progreso, or a good first stop on your way back from Progreso to Isla Mujeres.

Telchac is not a full service port, but it does have a diesel and gasoline pump, a marina with reasonable docks with water and electricity.  The marina is called “Club Nautico de Telchac” and is the one shown in the picture below.

The port harbor is mainly a fishing port like all in the Yucatan northern coast, but it has the basic facilities to attend  the needs of cruising yachts.  It is also a safe and quiet place to stay both for on shore visits or a longer stay.

The town of Telchac is not that near the port harbor, but it is only a 5 minute drive to it.  In town, you can find only basic shopping and groceries.  There are a few nice seafood restaurants in town at which one can enjoy fresh local fish and local dishes.  Telchac is also very well connected by road to Progreso and Merida, so if you have larger needs, it is only a 45 minute drive to Merida.

About a mile east of the harbor, there is a five star all-inclusive resort hotel named Reef Club, at which one can also stay while leaving their boat in the marina.
